The hypertension practice specialises in high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. The cardiologist specialist engages in curing, recognising and treating such disorders.
About a quarter of the population is affected by high blood pressure disease in Hungary, what is more, one-fourth of patients with hypertension are not even aware of their status. Hypertension does not cause any symptoms for a long period of time, however, if untreated, it may cause serious complications in the vascular system. If recognised in time, hypertension can be well-maintained, its complications can be prevented therefore hypertension screening among a wider range of the population is crucial. High blood pressure is present in 30-40% of the population over 50 years of age, while its occurrence in the younger generations is lower. Even with normal blood pressure rates, over 40 years of age it is worth participating in an annual screening.
High blood pressure (hypertension) usually does not cause noticeable symptoms hence it is called the silent killer. However, it affect more than 25% of the adult population. It can damage organs almost imperceptibly, so when its first symptoms occur, the disease poses a serious problem. Prevention, therefore, is extremely important, and with proper screening examinations cardiovascular diseases can be detected in time.
